The Gambella Regional Education Bureau on behalf of the Ethiopian New Millenum Festival Celebration Regional Council Secretariat organized a grade 8 students contest in the pastoralist region of Gambella. 87 students from 44 schools participated in the contest.
Students were rewarded with tapes, radios, dictionaries, and other useful materials. GPNRS Education Bureau Gambella said: “The contest will help to improve the quality of education in the region, to develop peace, friendship and love among the nations and nationalities of the region, to celebrate the Ethiopian Millennium and to increase the initiation of students towards education. A country’s economy is highly determined by the educated manpower it has. So this student contest, besides the Ethiopian Millennium Celebration, helps to improve the quality of education.”
